San Francisco Legal Paper The Recorder Boosts Online Presence 1One of the hallmarks of Bay Area legal news has announced a significant forum switch. Following the trend among nationwide newspapers and magazines, The Recorder, formerly a San Francisco daily newspaper, announced that it will beef up its website to integrate more static blog and multimedia coverage, and reduce its print presence to a weekly product.

The Recorder‘s online news will now be updated throughout the day, with breaking news posted online first, instead of waiting to coincide with print publication,” said editor in chief Scott Graham. “Our award-winning team will be posting more stories online as events happen. Those stories will focus first on news reporting, with subsequent stories — and the print edition — focused on adding background, context and analysis.”

The new web content, blog excluded, is available behind a pay wall and subscribers can now comment on web stories. The weekly print product, which now includes color photography, is thicker and more comprehensive than the old design and will be delivered to subscribers on Mondays.

Since I started blogging here at GJEL, The Recorder and its Legal Pad blog have been vital sources of local and national legal news. I, for one, am looking forward to the new web savvy format and hoping for even more news, context, and analysis.
