VIOXX News Release

GJEL is currently representing hundreds of patients with claims of heart attacks or strokes suffered as a result of taking the pain reliever Vioxx.

Manufactured by pharmaceutical giant, Merck & Co., Vioxx is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and a "COX-2 inhibitor."

A long-term study of the effects of Vioxx was stopped when patients taking the drug demonstrated greatly increased rates of cardiovascular problems. Internal Merck documents suggest the company has known for years that the drug caused clotting, heart attacks and other life-threatening conditions. Vioxx was pulled from the market in September, 2004.

In cases like these, plaintiffs' lawyers work together sharing information and assisting each other because it will take the combined efforts of numerous law firms around the country, such as ours, to bring Merck to justice.
