Open to any high school students interested in learning more about a potential future career in law, the 2017 GJEL Intro to Careers in Law Program will be taking place during the week of July 10th.
This year will mark the fourth year GJEL has hosted a week-long summer program designed to give high school students an overview of what it’s like to be a lawyer. The program covers a wide variety of different specializations, with previous guest speakers ranging from defense attorneys, prosecutors, mediators, and plaintiff’s attorneys.
With the application deadline of Friday, May 12th approaching quickly, we wanted to preemptively answer some of the most frequently asked questions about our program.
Where will the summer program be taking place?
The Intro to Careers in Law Program will be hosted at our firm’s main office in Orinda. The office is located at 2 Theatre Square, Suite 230, within walking distance of the Orinda BART station. There is also parking available in the Theatre Square parking garage.
Who is eligible to apply?
The program is open to any students who will be enrolled in high school during the 2017-2018 school year. From freshman to seniors, anyone with an interest in learning more about the legal industry is welcome to apply.
What are the hours for this year’s summer program?
Although a more detailed itinerary will be sent out prior to the start of the program, the Intro to Careers in Law Program will run Monday through Friday from approximately 9:30 am to 3:30 pm during the week of July 10th. (Note: the time may be modified slightly on whatever day students head to court to observe a trial.)
How many students will be accepted?
We will be accepting between 10 and 12 students for this year’s Intro to Careers in Law Program.
