Demarco Childs Shooting
On February 13, 2016, Demarco Childs was shot and killed by police outside of an Antioch, California Chevron station off of Delta Fair Blvd. At the time of the shooting, Derrick Childs who is Demarco’s brother videotaped the incident on his cell phone camera. The wrongful death suit was filed recently in February because the police chief has refused to release the recorded evidence to the family.

2015 Wrongful Death Cases

Rackeem Rucks Killed While Being Arressted
On June 10, 2015 Rakeem Rucks passed away while being arrested by police. While the coroner ruled the death of the 34 year old accidental, the suit filed mentions a witness hearing Mr. Rucks scream “I can’t breathe”. The lawsuit, which was filed in July of 2016 alleges that inappropriate police conduct caused the death.

Afroza Chowdhury
Afroza Chowdhury was killed when jumping from a taxi after a hospital sent her back to the scene of a domestic violence incident in a taxi. It happened on Highway 4 after the hosptial had decided to send Mrs. Chowdhury back to her ex-husband’s home. On the way back she jumped out of the taxi and was killed. A recent lawsuit filed in 2016 names the hospital, Antioch police, and the cab company in the suit.
