The votes are in, counted, and recounted!
We are very happy to announce that TransFormCA will receive the grand prize of $1,500 after winning nearly 40 percent of the first place votes. We know that the money will be put to great use by this growing organization. People connected with their work to make Alameda County streets safer, especially for children walking to school, and their long range efforts to change the way Californians commute. If you’d like to learn more about them, check out our interview with program director Nora Cody, or visit their website.
Our runner up was Walk San Francisco, which made a late push to capture the $500 second place prize. As we mentioned in our interview with Executive Director Elizabeth Stampe, we are also supporting Walk SF’s $5,000 matching donation drive. You can go here to double your contribution to their great organization.
We are also extremely grateful for the participation of our other three runners up, Impact Teen Drivers, MADD California, and Safe Moves. For their great service to our California community, we will also be donating $250 to each of them.
We are thrilled with the turnout for this promotion, and hope that those who visited our Facebook page to vote enjoyed learning about all of our participants. We certainly relished the opportunity to chat with the leaders of each advocacy group and learn about the various and serious street safety issues that each works so hard to address.
Thank you to all the charities and to everyone who voted online!
