Auto Versus Bicycle Collision in Union City, California 1

Accident Overview

On October 17, 2015, at 1:50 p.m., our client was riding his bicycle down Union City Blvd. at its intersection with Alvarado Blvd. in Union City, California. Our client was obeying the rules of the road driving his Cannondale 800 bicycle when another automobile driver hit our client causing serious injuries, loss of work, and large medical bills leaving our client in a state of uncertainty.

About the Bicycle Accident

This was an auto versus bicycle collision that resulted in serious injuries for our client due to the other driver’s negligence. The driver of the car that caused the accident was driving a 2003 Toyota Highlander.

There were no adverse road conditions when the accident happened.

After the accident, our client suffered from severe back pain and dental injuries as a direct result of the car accident. Our client was transported via Paramedics Plus ambulance to Eden Medical Center/Sutter Health, located in San Leandro, California where he underwent treatment for his severe back pain and dental injuries. The driver of the car that caused the accident was insured by Allstate.

Case Facts

Our client needed ongoing medical treatment after the accident. Initially, Allstate insurance was not convinced who was at fault for the accident and was not ready to make a decision as to payment.

Our client missed a significant amount of work and was charged up large medical bills from this accident. Based on this information he reached out to GJEL Accident Attorneys to see if he was entitled to compensation and to have his questions answered. He wanted to know:

  1. Who is responsible for my medical bills?
  2. How will I pay these bills and the loss of work?
  3. What if I have permanent lifelong damage to my body?

The staff at GJEL were able to quickly evaluate the case over the phone and met with our client at his home in Newark, California.

Based on the serious injuries from this accident and the mounting medical bills our client decided to retain GJEL Accident Attorneys to help get his life back on track after this tragic accident.

At first, the party at fault’s insurance company, Allstate, was not convinced the value of the case was as significant as our law firm felt it was. As the firm continued to collect the evidence and report the treatment to the insurance company, they changed their mind before GJEL has to file a lawsuit.

Attorney Jim Larsen helped our client through this difficult time and ultimately was able to settle this case without litigation. This case took approximately nine months to settle without having to go to trial. In the end, our client was awarded $100,000 for this accident by Allstate insurance company after aggressive representation.
