About the Accident

This was a two-vehicle accident that resulted in serious injuries for our client due to the other driver’s negligence. The driver of the car that caused the accident was driving a 2014 BMW X1.

There were no adverse road conditions when the accident happened when the driver left their lane and entered our client’s lane.

After the accident, our client initially went home not realizing how severe his foot injury was. Because of the foot injury, he was treated at Kaiser hospital and was off work for an extended time. Kaiser indicated that it was not a major injury, but that it was a permanent injury and there was no way to fix it.

The driver that caused the accident was insured by Standard Fire Insurance Company; our client was insured by Geico Automobile insurance.

Case Facts

Our client needed ongoing physical therapy which was helpful but did not entirely erase the pain. He was left with a minor injury but still an annoying injury because it was permanent. At first, Standard Fire Insurance felt that this was not a significant injury. They did not want to pay for our client’s medical bills and wage loss. Our client missed a significant amount of work and was charged large medical bills from this accident. Based on this information he reached out to GJEL Accident Attorneys to see if he was entitled to compensation and to have his questions answered. He wanted to know:

  1. Who is responsible for my medical bills?
  2. How will I pay these bills and the loss of work?
  3. What if I have permanent lifelong damage to my body?

The staff at GJEL were able to quickly evaluate the case over the phone and gave him the choice of coming into our office or having someone from our office meet him at his home. He chose to have someone meet him at his home.

At first, the adverse party’s insurance, Standard Fire, was not taking full responsibility and offered our client $19,000. As the firm continued to collect evidence the insurance company changed its mind during litigation.

Attorneys Jim Larsen and Andy Gillin helped the client through this difficult time. In the end, our client was awarded $245,000 for this accident by Standard Fire Insurance after aggressive representation.
